Bethlehem 2/5 – First, I have to mention the job the upper classmen did with race prep. I was the starter of the meet (busy) and the only Wiss coach there so the kids were on their own all day. And it was a looong day as both divisions combined for this one. Rookies were checked in and race-ready AND almost every distance kid PRd.
Since the last time he competed, Jaylen Foster has been working on his start and it showed here. He lowered his previous best of 7.23 to 7.11 in the prelims dipping under the state standard of 7.13.
We loaded up the DMR with the best we had and were rewarded with a second-place finish and an auto-qualifier into the MOC. Joey Linville knocked 3 sec of his 1200 best, Rowan Aten .5 off his 400 and Chase Bethea (I’ll run it, coach!) 4 sec off his 800. Anchorman Alex Schultz was not happy with his mile split but passed some guys to get 2nd.
Other PR’s included Shah 60HH, both Mike Lambright and Jishnu Dass 800, Logan Radell mile, Vik Iyer TJ, Jonah Sydney, Josh Dass and Aiden Wescott in the 4×4.
On the downside, the 4×2 looked like roller derby with an out-of-the-zone DQ in the first exchange and a collision causing both our guys to hit the deck. The team next to us tripped and fell across our path as our exchange was being made and both Dan and Kam tripped over him. Ooof.
