Due to a Friday PM snow storm, all after school activities were cancelled which meant no pre-meet prep (no line-up review, no uniforms, no hand-offs for the rookies) and some communication break-down. As a result, the relay personnel had to be juggled on the bus ride up.

After closing out last spring with a flurry of good performances, Ahmir Johnson picked up right where he left off. Showing up this season a couple inches taller and a few pounds heavier, there was really no reason NOT to improve. Coach Garis sees a 24′ LJ and a 50′  TJ just on the horizon.

In other news, both Matt Maiale in the mile (4:39.26, 3rd place) and Ben Hoyer in the 3000 (9:23.13, 4th place) scored medals with Matt sneaking under the Meet of Champs standard of 4:40.24. After a PR 4:35 time trial a few weeks ago, he’ll go faster. Ben led his race for 12 of the 15 laps but couldn’t match the leg speed of the top three (at least not at this point of the season).

Hurdler Liam Davies PR’d twice. His 8.99 from last year was bested in both trials (8.94) and finals (8.93) placing 4th. (MOC 9.14)

Our Novice 4×8 battled for the lead the entire race and were rewarded by being ‘banished’ to the big leagues by placing second! (Top five are no longer ‘novices’.)  Anchor Justen Le (PR 2:26.8) was in such a zone, he ran right through the finish and ran a 5th lap!
