This week, the opportunity arose for Matt Maiale to go against American Conference XC Champ Jason Cornelison and possibly exact some revenge. Sticking to his pacing through the early laps and sitting in mid-pack, he slowly moved up and onto Jason’s shoulder with 2 to go. Cornelison accelerated noticably trying to shake our guy but everytime he glanced over his shoulder (which he did often), there was Matt. With a mad dash over the last 150m, both runners were flat out, with only .5 sec separating them at the line. Second place gets him into the MOC, and 10 sec off States.
We took steps towards post-season by gaining a few more spots in the Meet of Champs. Liam Davies scored his third 60HH PR in as many races with his 8.82; Rahsheed Wright qualified in two, his early season times of 23.66 (200) and 52.97 (400), although far from his best, were both under the MOC standards.
Missing this week was Ahmir Johnson, being cautious with a tight hamstring.
