Cheltenham may have graduated national-caliber talents John Lewis, Christian Brissett and Sahir Bethea, but a newly vitalized distance crew, along with Coach Beale’s field event guidance, meant these guys would be tough to beat (on paper at least).
Cold and windy conditions up on ‘Panther Plateau’ caught many under-dressed (as usual), but goosed the sprinters to swift marks. Darien Williams (10.5, 22.3), Rahsheed Wright (10.7) and Chelt’s Charles Wilson (10.8, 22.5), as well as others, rode the 20+ MPH breeze to fast (albeit questionable!) 100m times.
The same winds hampered the lap races, as well as the jumps, making PRs impossible and scoring points being the goal. After keeping slightly ahead on the track, points-wise, sweeps in the discus and pole vault (Hohn 11-0) proved too much for the hosts. District qualifying marks were posted by Yondell Dudley in the shot with 52-6 and discus with 141-9.
Ethan Dolberry-Wescott posted 4 wins (110HH, 300IH, 4×1, 4×4), Darien Williams 3 (100, 200, 4×1), and doubles went to Rahsheed Wright (400, 4×4), Yondell (shot, disc), Andy Harman (800, 4×4). RESULTS HERE
