Christmas and Easter breaks are challenging. There’s always a no-show who “forgot to mention” that they’ll be at Aunt Sadie’s and miss the meet. Usually it involves a leg on a relay.
Luckily, the Sprint Medley wasn’t effected, as we felt we had the horses to win it. Rahsheed Wright (53.0), Shamere Dunswell (23.2) Matt Selverian (24.6) and Cam Christopher (2:03.3) proved us correct. We were never headed as 3:42.85 was a full 5 seconds up on second place.
Later on, Dunswell became our second 200M state qualifier, winning his heat in 23.26 placing him 3rd over-all.
The 4×8 produced some nice PRs in placing second. Soph Justin Ryan kept us in the mix leading off with an indoor PR of 2:10, Cam took over the lead with his 2:02, and Trey Hippensteal’s 2:17 (3 sec. PR) 3rd leg gave Ben Hoyer enough to work with as he stopped the clock in 2:09. (8:40.41)
Other medalists included 4th place finishes from Ben Hoyer in the mile with an indoor PR of 4:46.58, Rahsheed Wright’s 52.10 (MOC) 400M and a 5th from Justin Cooper in the Shot put (44-6.5)
